“Do we want to be constantly surprised while longing for the familiar?” Not The Whole Truth, the latest release of Vienna-based sound artist Subletvis, takes an emotive approach to his genre-bending compositions, exploring themes such as memory, remembrance and personal history. While working on the record, he maintained a close back and forth with GPT-3, asking all sorts of truth-related questions in the search for satisfying answers. As a result, a 39-second-long video came to life using AI-altered footage of personal videos, embodying the essence of Not The Whole Truth. For Intermedia at Hothouse, Subletvis will perform parts of the record in collaboration with Kenneth Constance Loe, who will live-feed ChatGPT with their poetry to generate responses in pursuit of a so-called truth.

Subletvis is the online moniker of sound artist and composer Mo Nahold. In his work he explores the facets of various sonic artifacts, channeling the space between abstract composition and pop signifiers. His music has been released on labels such as Ventil Records, Parken and Denovali.
Kenneth Constance Loe (he/they)
Kenneth Constance Loe is an artist, writer, and performer from Singapore, and currently based in Vienna, Austria. They are a co-founder of Monzoom.xyz, an online platform for emergent art practices and alternative education co-organised with Weixin Quek Chong. His practice revolves around material and sensorial fetishes of desire, poetics of hospitality, body memory, queer ecologies, and other tangential thoughts through a performative collocation of sculpture, video, movement, text, and olfactory objects. Their poetry manuscript sun-dried air was a finalist of the 2022 Gaudy Boy Poetry Book Prize, and their poetry has recently been published in the anthology New Singapore Poetries (Gaudy Boy, 2022).
