Hotdesk is a residency programme that supports artistic and critical research processes, valuing space as a crucial condition of production. This caters to practitioners whose work aligns with research and academia. We hope to share and open workspace, equipment, knowledge, and networks as resources to seed more possibilities for thought, conversations, and collaborations.

MAKE SURE YOU'RE ALONE WHEN YOU WISH AT THE WELL

ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ꜱᴜʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ’ʀᴇ ᴀʟᴏɴᴇ ᴡʜᴇɴ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡɪꜱʜ ᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴇʟʟ exists as an interdisciplinary curio, expanding on performance and the moving image through a carefully staged hybrid installation-performance that employs cinematic strategies. The work unfolds from a set of conditions—the hermetic yet porous nature of high-rise living, the pull of digital spectacle, and the anarchic potential of animatronic systems—bound together by a quixotic logic likened to the image of a wishing well.

MAKE SURE YOU'RE ALONE WHEN YOU WISH AT THE WELL

As audiences enter, a sequence begins to assemble itself. Screens reflect, machines stir, and temporary sculptural forms take shape in real time. What emerges is not a singular action but a drifting progression, activated by the audience’s arrival and sustained by a non-human cast of computers and automated gestures. Human presence registers only intermittently, absorbed into a larger, fragmented rhythm that breathes, pauses, and resumes.

The work treats the wishing well as a technology of address—a proto-screen—where calls are made in advance of any response. As this anti-ritual continues, attention lingers on unresolved questions that remain suspended in the space: who are we wishing to, what are we wishing for, and what, exactly, has already been offered.
