ΛUTΟMΛTΛ asks what holds us in pattern, what moves beneath the surface, then gives you three hours to forget the question. Challenging the boundaries of expanded cinema, movement, dance, and live sound worlds, it unfolds through two immersive works and a closing party that journeys from ritual to rapture to release, featuring Chong Lii, Loy, goneMUNE, Hidemen & Houg. Taking over the wayang stage at the returning Festival Village on Empress Lawn, the presentations ran every weekend night.

A multidisciplinary performance that employs distortive and operatic aesthetics to explore social technologies and rituals alongside renewed 20th century anxieties. A young woman recounts attending 2 different weddings that occur within the span of a week. She ruminates on a particularly curious incident – a destabilising speech made by a new mother-in-law. Meanwhile, several hotel employees engage in endlessly repetitive menial labour. A fog descends and a song begins.

Excess Without Return

Curated by Hothouse in collaboration with Big Duck, Excess Without Return is an audiovisual inquiry into the construction of personal and collective mythologies. Closing the stage for SIFA Late Nites 2026, the performance is a portal into the universes of three distinct world-builders—Houg, Hidemen, and goneMUNE—to externalise their internal landscapes.

The experience is defined by the total expansion of these artists’ worlds through an immersive field of light and digital projection. Moving beyond the confines of a traditional stage, the performance space becomes an elastic canvas where the boundaries of the screen dissolve. Through a collaboration with NONFORM (visuals) and Alina Ling (lighting), the artists are enveloped in a synchronised environment of refractive light and vast, shifting projections that physically manifest their sonic narratives.

Curated by Hothouse, AUTOMATA reframes the automaton not as a mechanical object, but as a cultural figure shaped through processions, ceremonies and patterned movement. Drawing from lived traditions and practices, the automaton becomes a threshold between space and action, choreography and technology.

The SIFA Late Nites programme convenes filmmakers, programmers, movement artists, musicians and machinists to examine automata as systems that organise bodies, gestures and time. The aim is to question how behaviours are collectively enacted and sustained, and to create performances that disrupt routine, unsettle perception, and generate new meanings beyond spectacle.
